Today I was so excited to wear my new Hell Bunny Bernadette Dress that I recently bought on sale at Unique Vintage. When I first saw this dress, I immediately fell in love with it! Having just watched all 7 seasons of Mad Men in about 2 months, I have recently become a huge fan of Christina Hendricks’ role as Joan Holloway. I just love everything about her style so much, and this dress looked like something she would wear. Ever since I started watching the show, I have been wanting to find a Joan inspired dress so that I could emulate her style, and this was that dress! I have even experimented with a few of the 1960s updos that she wears, but clearly that is still a work in progress, haha.
I wanted to accent this dress with lots of gold and brown, so I chose brown wedges that I bought a few years ago at Goodwill, a long gold leaf necklace (I need to find a necklace like Joan’s classic pen necklace) that is actually my moms, leopard cat eye sunglasses, and an authentic vintage brown snap purse that I bought at Deja Vu, an adorable vintage clothing shop in Winter Park, Florida.
This dress is definitely more expensive than most, but it is so, so worth it! Also, I was lucky enough to find it on sale. 🙂 When I put it on, I immediately knew it was high-quality, because some wiggle dresses are cheaply made and aren’t figure-flattering, but that is not the case with the Bernadette dress. I also love the dark green, jewel tone color so much! It’s especially great for Fall, and I will be styling it with long, brown gloves when the weather gets cooler. 🙂
I am just 5 minutes away from the cutest little downtown area in Florida, Downtown Winter Garden, where these pictures were taken. It has an old movie theater (as seen in the pictures), a classic barber shop, candy store, ice cream shop, and more. I am blessed to have grown up around such a wonderful area, and I had tons of fun posing for these pictures!
